Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)

Driver CPCs

The Certificate of Professional Competence for Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) drivers has now become a legal requirement in the UK. The law requires that people who drive LGV vehicles for a living should be trained for 35 hours over a 5 year period. Training sessions must be delivered by an approved trainer but are non-assessed.

The 35 hours training over 5 years (initially from Sept 2009 to Sept 2014) can equally be delivered in 7-hour training sessions annually, or 35 hours towards the end of the five year period. Most companies are opting for the day-per-year approach since this is less disruptive to their normal working patterns.

Valley Training, a division of Cherwell Valley Silos Limited, is a professional training organisation with many years’ experience delivering driver LGV training, forklift training and National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs). The Company is offering driver CPC courses ranging from essential driver disciplines (such as drivers hours regulations or use of digital tachographs) to more bespoke courses. Courses can be delivered at our site near Banbury, at customer sites or third party premises.

For more information on these courses, please contact Emma Phillips on 01295 816246 or email emma@cvs-ltd.com. To download a Driver CPC factsheet, please click here.
