No Melamine Risk in CV-Soy Organic v Organic Soya Expeller
02/12/2008CVS Melamine No Risk Statement
Cherwell Valley Silos produces an Organic Soya Product, CV-Soy – known colloquially as FULL FAT SOYA. This is a totally different product from Soya Expellers and is in no way related to the incident which is currently under investigation.
Melamine has allegedly been incorporated into various Chinese Origin feed grade products to enhance the protein analysis of the product – eg Maize meals and Milk where additional value can be obtained or deficiencies can be hidden.
Soyabeans are not traded or valued on a Protein Declaration so there is little benefit in adulterating them with Melamine as it will have no impact on value of the beans – other than a bulking effect. In addition as whole beans are easily identified any foreign meal or dust actually can be used to down grade the value of the beans. It is therefore very unlikely that Melamine will be added for financial gain.
Cherwell Valley Silos’ Product - CV-Soy Organic Full Fat Soya - is currently manufactured from NON CHINESE ORIGIN Soyabeans and can therefore be considered to be of no risk in Organic feeds.
Cherwell Valley Silos are accredited under the Organic Farmers and Growers and FEMAS assurance schemes
